hi me again

it seems i have the same problem as Xephodark from page 114. he says when installing the driver he has an error -536870397 that's the same thing i get as well. i read ur respnse to that and i was wondering if u can help me find my chipset at sis.com. (don't know what a chipset is)

i'm also gonna try to go into BIOS and try to change my sound. i also tried going into control panel and changing sound playback but it says NO PLAYBACK DEVICES. and i did take a look inside my computer to see if my motherboard in pinned down and she's not going anywhere.

thx for taking the time to help me again.

mother board: ecs k7s5a
o/s: winxp pro

downloaded sis 7012 pci audio driver.

That board appears to be an ECS it has Realtek AC'97 audio

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Then go here to Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

download the (Excution file) save to desktop, double click to install

The site is slow

Hope this helps

Bookworm, you seem to have solved everyone's issues. Now a bit of a challenge...

I've had the same issue as others with the Multimedia Audio Controller. I did the Belarc thing and found out my motherboard was a ECS P4S5A/DX. Went to the ECS site, and downloaded the appropriate driver.

However, there is no Setup or Install function with the files I downloaded (only .dll files and such). Where do I put these files so that they get recognized by the system? Or is there another driver that I need?

Many thanks!

Hi again - I knew it couldn't be that easy...did everything you said but the install failed. The error message I get is an 'UpdateDriverforPlugandPlayDevices - 536870397'. No clue what this means.
Any other tips/drivers I can try? Thanks.

hello All, much like everyone else I'm having some problems with my sound card. I recently reformatted my primary HD and lost my drivers. I was able to get a realtek AC 97 driver bundle for my PCI audio card, but when I tried to install the driver, it needed to restart as part of the process at which point, Windows recognized the card after the reinstallation but insisted that the driver needed to be installed and would immediately restart without prompting upon completing installation of the driver and then repeat that same procedure after every restart.

Edit: I got the drivers I tried to install from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false
