Intel Pentium III
Motherboard name is Gigabyte GA 60XT
Northbridge Chipset is Intel Solano i815EP
southbridge is Intel 82801BA ICH2X/M

sorry dont know what other info need
any help would really really be appreciated

AHHH - Barbera, while you're there would you mind giving me a hand too!!! THANK GOD I've found you... my laptop has been without sound for a week and I have no idea what to do - same problem as everyone else on this thread - the little yellow question mark - and can't find the driver to reinstall.

My laptop is:
Sony Vaio - VGN-T140P (UC)

I'm having the same problem with my sound, in the device manager I see my Multimedia Audio Controller under "other devices" with a question mark beside it. I can't seem to fix it. Here are my specs:

Set a System Restore Point before each installation just in case

Your board is a Gigabyte GA 60XT, it has AC'97 audio, but Gigabyte has no file for sound to download

Go here http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21
download and install No:3 then restart your comp

Then go here to download a AC'97 audio driver http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

all drivers for your comp are listed

First under Motherboard download and install the Intel Chipset Drivers Installation Utility then restart your comp
Second under Audio download the ADI SoundMAX Audio Device Driver.

Iv'e traced this board before, there's nothing at ASUS for this board, and it appears that you have a separate Sound Blaster card installed, is this a Sony Vio comp, if so can you check on the back, 2 sets of numbers one 8 digits lond and another 7 digits long. if it is a Sony post back numbers, if not run this programe, http://www.lavalys.com/products/over...?pid=1&lang=en
and post the Computer Summary.

Well I do have a Sony Vaio but I don't see the numbers you're looking for. And that sound blaster is something I bought that I haven't been able to remove off of my PC. I have everest, here is the motherboard report, I believe that's what you're looking for:

The file is an exe, just double click, it will install itself automatically.

Don't forget set a System Restore Point just in case

Okay so I downloaded the first file, and I no longer have multimedia audio controller in the other devices section. But I have multimedia audio controller in the sound, video, and game controllers tab with an exclamation mark beside it. And i can't install the second file because there's some error with it and my windows. That's weird cause i have regular windows xp home.
