Sound ok now.

Thanks a lot for all the help. I managed to find the proper driver and now the sound is "back on track". Thanks. Mike. And yes, that help.

Angry Problem with VT8233/A AC '97 Enhanced Audio Controller

My computer hates me. The volume was somehow removed from my computer. I can run media players, and it seems to be working, but no sound is coming out. I am running on Windows XP.

I downloaded Belarc, and this is what came up.

ADI 198x is onboard, your radio jacks will be near your keyboard, mouse etc on the I/O plate

If they are much lower down in an exspansion slot then you will need to try the other 2 sound card drivers.

Smile Need help too! urgent!

I also have same problem with the multimedia audio controller.
I unistall my old nokia hp program and the sound is all gone.
I check the device manager thing under the sound, video and game controller all is fine except the Multimedia Audio Controller with the (!) in yellow box.
I dun have any installation cds and I am using a NEC Versa A2200 laptop. Can anyone tell me wad to do?
If can please give me easier instructions cause I read the forum stuff but still dun understand.

I did what was posted on the advice posts above. My sound card Realtek is built-in with the motherboard & i download AC Realtek'97 audio from the mfg site & install it but it said that my file is invalid several times!!

Bookworm! Got any advice for this. My Belarc info is as follows :-

multimedia audio controller - need help

I got this old machine formatted and got Windows XP installed on it.
Now in the device manager it has a yellow exclamation mark on Multimedia Audio Controller.

Motherboard is Aopen AX6BC R2.20c
Belarc shows
System model - no details available
Multimedia - no details available

Is it possible to tell me what drivers I need just from the Motherboard info

Aopen AX6BC does not show as haveing onboard sound, but the slot for a Soundblaster card is on the board. This utility is offered which will show all details about the board. You should be able to find which sound card is installed
