Multimedia Audio Controller Problems

Hi, seem to have the same problem everybody else is: No sound, and a yellow question mark next to Multimedia Audio Controller. Any help is greatly appreciated. My info from Belarc:

Gateway offer no audio driver, but according to Intel the D845GVSR board has Realtek AC'97 go here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click to install

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

ok i basically have the same problem as my audio system is not working at all. i get no sound, and it says my multimedia audio controller is not installed or somthing. here is my info from belarc:

Iv'e found the model, it does not appear to have onboard sound, so you must have a sound card installed, is it possible to have a look inside the tower to see what is installed, or get this programe it should give us the unknown devices installed, it's long as it also lists windows drivers

alrite i downloaded the winzip file but when i press install it just says "CANNOT INSTALL: SETUP or INSTALL program filename contains folder information. Use Actions/CheckOut instead"

anyway to fix this?

I can't check the interior at the moment, I'll try to break it apart (lol) tomorrow when I feel better. (lifting 21kg of steel isn't an easy task when you're sick ^^o)
