Multimedia Audio Controller

I recently had my computer freeze in which i manually had to reset it. When it booted up. My computer recognized "new hardware." This hardware was my PCI input device and my multimedia audio controller. The result was a lack of sound from my speakers (which have worked for 4 years) replaced by the computer beep for sounds.

I got around to reinstalling the Creative Blaster PCI drivers, I believe I did that correctly(although i had to manually find it, but i was excited to find the name Creative Blaster PCI) I tried to use the same thing for my multimedia audio controller through the device manager which seemed to succeed. While it seems like my computer liked this because it no longer beeps, I believe I installed the wrong drivers. However Ive been trying to download the correct ones(from hp.com) by following several examples on here, however I cant seem to find the correct ones. So I was hoping for some help.

I have a Compaq

Model#: S4000T
Product#: P8656F-ABA
Serial #: MXP33309PW

I have Logitech Z340 Speakers.

Compac will have on-board drivers for audio, if you have a Creative Soundblaster you will need to know which one, this is the link to Creative sound drivers http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/

Hope this helps

I've found that i have Creative Sound Blaster PCI512, I found the drivers for this hardware on the site you sent me under Sound Blaster > Others > Archived. I downloaded and tried to run the program in which it gave me an error saying I dont have "Live!" Hardware on my computer and refused to install. This is odd because on the Website Sound Blaster > Live! was a different classification of driver in which i did not download.

Any Ideas? Thanks

Do you have 2 sets of audio jacks, one at top of tower near keyboard + mouse and another set lower down tower in an exspansion slot

Hope this helps

No i guess i just have the "Expansion Slot" Which my speaks have been using for the past 4 years. (Also its color coded and ive often packed up my computer to move it between new living locations and reattached everything with no problems) Is there not something wrong with the fact that i downloaded the SB PCI512 drivers, and it errored claiming not being able to find "SB Live!" hardware?

I also downloaded a "Driver Detective" I have not invested money in it hoping I could find the drivers on my own and/or with your help. This Driver Detective Found that I dont have the up to date Creative Sound Blaster PCI512 Drivers or Creative Audigy Audio Processor(related?) and then i think the real big problem is that i have no Multimedia Audio Controller - PCI bus.

Thanks for your help Barbara
