I had the same problem as everybody with multimedia audio controller but now I fixed it thanks to this forum. I'd just like to say thanks to everyone on this forum and especially to Bookworm for taking your own time to answer everyone's questions. I think I can speak for everyone in saying that you are very thoughtful and your good deeds are helping everyone, everywhere.

I am having the exact same problem I do not know my device manufacturer.

I too had to reformat my computer using an XP disk. Now I do not have sound either. I do not know the manufacturers or have any driver CD's
either. My computer does not have a brand name on it. I believe it was built by someone who is long gone now.

This is what I do know from following the instructions in this post:

According to Belarc:
Windows XP Home Edition (build 2600)
1.73 GHZ Intel Celeron Processor
Main Circuit Board: Board Gigabyte Technology Company, LTD SLD5331 x BusClock 100 megahertz
BIOS Award Software International , Inc.6.00 PG11/26/2002
Multi Media: Standard Game Port
Display: None detected

As per Device Manager Settings
Several issues are listed here with yellow questionmarks. When I try to install, uninstall, or update any of these it says "cant find the software let me know if you find it ..."

These are items with yellow question marks:
Multimedia Audio Controller
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
Under System Devices: Intel(R)82801DB/DBM SmBus Controller2 4C3
Microsoft System Management BIOS Driver

Under Sound, Video and Game Controllers I have the followin listed with no yellow warnings:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
Standard Game Port
Video Codecs

I hope I have provided all necessary information. I appreciate any help I can get.

I think I have found the board, but to make sure can you download Everest ( Free ) http://www.lavalys.com/products/over...?pid=1&lang=en

Then go to Computer / Summary and post the complete readout. I need to check the chipset and the lan to be sure. If I'm correct and I'm 99% sure I am then all the drivers you need are available from Gigabyte.

Hope this helps

here are all the drivers for your board it is a Gigabyte GA-8LD533 (C) http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Motherbo...A-8LD533-C.htm
