Me again,

I have been working on my problem and have been able to install volume control but this still doesn't fix my problem (i'm sure nothing is on mute). First mediaplayer refused to play my mp3 files, but now it plays them but no sound comes out.

This is what belarc says about my system now

Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32 or compatible (WDM)
Standard Game Port
VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM)

Windows warned me for possible incompatibility but still shows the same error for my 'Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32 or compatible (WDM)'. The device show the following error 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'

please help me out, i'm going nuts

ps. VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM) seems to be working fine

Your board is a Gigabyte GA-60XT

Set a System Restore Point befire installing driver just in case

Go here to Gigabyte http://www.giga-byte.com/Motherboard...er_GA-6OXT.htm

install the Intel INF Installation and restart your comp, this is the chipset driver, don't install the Intel IAA you do not need it

Check your sound, if still not working then get the sound driver from link below

Then go here to get the driver for your C-Media CMI8738 http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOU...12010644.shtml

Hope this helps

yeah, I got it fixed. It was easy after I realised my soundcard was integrated in my motherboard. I just got the sound driver for my Asus a7v8x-x from the Asus homepage.

Thanks for your time and help

Set a System Restore Point before installing each driver just in case

then go here to Intel http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...5&submit=Go%21

First download and install No:5 -INF Chipset Software Installation Utility, then Restart your comp

Second download and install No:4 - Audio : ADI 1985

Hope this helps
