Thank you SO much! *laughs* I wonder if we should get a pool going for you. You've been great help to so many.

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case

Your Audio driver is a Realtek AC'97 go here http://w3serv.realtek.com.tw/downloa...&Software=True

choose one of the 3 download sites, beware the site is slow, very popular

Hope this helps

As with other posters here I have a audio problem after reinstalling XP.
Specs are:

System Serial Number: 2100477038
Chassis Serial Number: 50424E
Enclosure Type: Desktop

If you could please point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Motherboard has "GA-8SIML" on it.

Hi Bookworm.

Tried that site, but it could not find any reference to this PC's serial number or the P/N number. But that could be because I'm in New Zealand and that is a UK site. So I tried looking for a similar thing on the NZ site, but it dosent seem to have that search function here.

The S/N is 21004770387 .
The PN is P0200956H2 .
I have also just emailed the local tech support for PackardBell, which is actually in Malaysia. surely they must have had ppl with similar problems.
I'll let you know if I manage to fix it.
