That board does not appear to have onboard audio, if your audio plugs are in an expansion slot, then you have a sound card installed - see here, click image to focus http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

A friend of mine is having the same problem

all i know is she has

Windows XP
Dell Optiplex gx270

I tried googling the model of the stupid integrated sound card but i got no real help. I tried getting some drivers but it didn't work.
So i was wondering if the sound card is like unplugged or is it more likely that she deleted some important file.
She said she was deleting stuff around the time her sound went out, but i don't think anything important would be in add/remove programs.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

2 boards 2 different audio drivers, Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...oad-16369.html

also check that C-media is default audio
Go to Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Audio tab / Sound Playback – click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.
