Check this out

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply > click Start > Reboot.

from what I have read, this could be due to malware or a virus, run your antivirus and spyware programs and clean your machine.

Need more info, make and model or Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

It's not giving the make or model or the motherboard Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml

can you check this to see if Realtek is the default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

3 audio drivers shown, 1 onboard 2 sound cards
Are your audio plugs on the I/O plate or in a expansion slot, see here, click image to focus http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

I/O plate - ADI 198x is audio
Expansion slot - one of the 2 Soundblaster drivers

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

This is the audio for your Dell http://support.euro.dell.com/support...&fileid=122481

Your audio plugs must be on the I/O plate for this driver to work, if you use an expansion slot then you have a Sound Card installed, see here, click the image to focus

alright, well i checked out the componet services and it was already set to automatic and then i tried to install the link you gave me, it gave me this: "MMDRIVER.INF is missing and is needed to install the drivers. It may be damaged or may not be in the system32 directory." So i checked and that file is indeed there...so please tell me how to fix that...i would really appreciate it...thanks a lot, you have been a lot of help so far ^^
