Go here to Intel, audio No:5 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...4&submit=Go%21

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

Your audio plugs must be on the I/O plate for this driver to work, if you use an expansion slot then you have a Sound Card installed, see here, click the image to focus

p.s it is the right driver, you have a Phillips MT5000 comp

I was reading an article about people having audio problems with 'No Audio Device' and apparently caused by SWENUM.SYS / SWENUM.INF. I am not sure if it applies to my case as well. I will try that one too.

If you have any other idea, I will definitely appreciate it. And I really thank you, because you spend time in fixing everybody's problems.

Try a System File Check go to Run – type “sfc /scannow” (without the quotes and note space after sfc) have Win disc available in case sfc needs to replace or repair any files. The programme runs with no alerts and then closes.

Need more info, make and model of comp or Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

I tried downloading the file twice and installing it. But the computer still cant play the system's sound even when windows start or shutdown.

Now there is a new ! sign in the device manager beside an 'unknown device'.

Is there still other problems i havent solve?

Wink Multimedia Audio Controller

System Model
Windows XP Media Center Edition Service Pack 3, v.3205 (build 2600) Gateway E-2000 4000827
System Serial Number: 0029997355
Chassis Serial Number: 0029997355
Enclosure Type: Desktop

Main Circuit Board b
Board: Intel Corporation D845GRG AAA86577-304
Serial Number: ABRG31230897
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
BIOS: Intel Corp. RG84510A.15A.0030.P13.0302130929 02/13/2003

This is what Belarc says about my PC. I tried to use Media Player and it told me that it could not play the sound file. When I looked in the device manager, it shows that the Multimedia Audio Controller has no driver.

I have had gateway do a system check like Belarc does and it shows the Multimedia Audio Controller but is says name unknown. Belarc does not find that component at all and only list "Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device" under Multimedia and that driver is as up-to-date as I can get it..... Please help....I need the sound for my job.

Thanks.

Check this out, sometimes you need to tell XP to use the Realtek audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

What make and model is your comp,
Try a System File Check go to Run – type “sfc /scannow” (without the quotes and note space after sfc) have Win disc available in case sfc needs to replace or repair any files. The programme runs with no alerts and then closes.
