Hey Bookworm. I feel pretty lost at this point? I have read through almost this entire thread and feel like that I have the same issue as most of the posters. I have been to Intel and Dell (I have a Dimension 4500) and try to download every possible driver associated with this set up.

But no luck. I always seem to get the big yellow question mark on the "Multimedia Audio Controller" and still no sound.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

It says all are working properly. I go to audio and everything is greyed out. Help!!

Need more info. make and model or Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

Try a System File Check go to Run – type “sfc /scannow” (without the quotes and note space after sfc) have Win disc available in case sfc needs to replace or repair any files. The programme runs with no alerts and then closes.

Will a system file check still work even if I don't have my Windows disc?

These are the drivers from Intel, audio is ADI http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...4&submit=Go%21

If you use the Dell link then the audio is ADI 198x Your audio plugs must be on the I/O plate for this driver to work, if you use an expansion slot then you have a Sound Card installed, see here, click the image to focus
