I'm having this problem too, I PM'd bookworm earlier but to no reply, figured I'd post about in here too to see if anyone else (or she) can help me out.

I installed Belarc Advisor to find out what motherboard I have, and it came up with this

RS/RX480SB400

I don't really know what else to do, lol. If you could help me, it would be GREATLY appreciated. And if there's any more information about my system that you need from Belarc, just give me a shout, and I'll do the best I can. I'm a Music Tech student, so having no sound on my computer is a bit of a bummer, lol, as it's the main reason I got the new computer anyway.

Any help would be much appreciated, please get back to me as soon as you can. Thanks =]

Hello. I am too having sounds problems.

I just got my computer back from my friend. He was fixing it for me as it has been down for a few months now. I would ask him to help me. But he's always busy. And doesn't have any time at the moment.

If you can help me Bookworm. Much would be appreciated.

I see everybody here who is having trouble is posting their PC info. Now I don't how to obtain those info. If you could tell me where I can go to get that info. I would be happy to tell you.

^ Just do a Google Search on 'Belarc Advisor', download/install it, and then run the program. It's that simple.

You are a LEGEND

I only just logged back on here and downloaded the driver that you suggested (I didn't take your advice and disappear into the sunset).

I just wanted to say a great big thank you.

May you have a wonderful and prosperous 2008

Kindest regards

jjroach :-)

That doesn't tell us the make of your motherboard.

What is the mainboard description?
What is the make and model of your PC? Have you ever had sound? Have you checked in BIOS to see if it's onboard and enabled?

Have you ever had sound? When did it stop working etc?

Reply with the top right hand corner where it says:

System Model

Main Circuit Board

Reply with ALL The info in those 2 descriptions, excluding the system serial number.

No, it's a new computer, I just installed XP .. and then there was no sound. When I go to the Audio bit in Control Panel it won't let me select anything, it's all grayed out, and sometimes it comes up with "no audio output installed".

I guess it's a bad thing that it doesn't even show up with my system serial number then?

Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.

OK.

Download the following and on the main screen should be the make of your sound card (Hopefully)

Or the real make of your Motherboard.
