your audio driver is here at Foxconn http://www.foxconnchannel.com/suppor...D=en-us0001191

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

wow thanks for the quick reply
under the audio tab i only have modem #0 line playback in the drop down box i also get an error while tring to install driver along the lines of "tool for driver has encountered a problem " this happens at about 80% of installation

When I got Start/ Run and type sfc /scannow..... I get this Windows file protection thingy and when after some time it asks for Windows XP service pack cd....is that the same CD that we use to formate the computer?

The harddrive in my laptop failed recently. I've since replaced it and installed everything in the new one. Problem is I have no sound and when I check under device manager it says the drivers for the Multimedia Audio Controller are not installed. I'm not sure where to go to get them.

The computer is a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop
The new harddrive is a Western Digital Scorpio with 120 GB

I've got the same problem with the Media Audio Controller. Can't install the hardware. Like an idiot I uninstalled the Media Audio Controller last night thinking I could just reinstall it (not the best computer wiz around). Can't seem to find drivers for this problem. My computer is a Sony Corporation PCV-RZ44G(UC) 28477331 Desktop. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks so much for the fast reply! I think I am having a problem. When I tried to install the Creative Sound Blaster® Audigy® Device Driver I got a prompt that said "this update is not intended for your computer model". Maybe I am doiing something wrong here? Thanks for your help.

The driver at Sony only works on the MCE OS need to know which card you have Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section

Open Everest - expand Computer - select Summary - select Report - Quick Report - HTML . The report opens, using mouse hold the left button and starting at all above Debug-PCI - highlight all the text - when highlighted right lick mouse - select Copy.
It should give the card

Are your audio plugs on the I/O plate or in a expansion slot, see here, click image to focus

My speakers work fine but I'm getting no sound from my computer. Multimedia Audio Controller is listed under Other devices in Device Manager with a big fat yellow question mark next to it. I've had zero luck trying to update/intall the driver. Under Sound, video and game controllers are listed: Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Devices, Media Control Devices, MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device, Standard Game Port, Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device, and Video Codecs.

More below:

Operating System
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

System Model

SNC302EEH
System Serial Number: April134
Asset Tag: SNC302EEH
Chassis Serial Number: April134
Enclosure Type: Desktop

Processor
1.47 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Main Circuit Board

Board: SNC302EEH
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. 6.00 PG 02/08/2002

Multimedia
MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device
Standard Game Port
Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device

Drives
60.05 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
51.17 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space

IDE DVD-ROM 16X [CD-ROM drive]
RW-241040 [CD-ROM drive]

SAMSUNG SV6003H [Hard drive] (60.06 GB) -- drive 0, s/n 0444J1ET100490, rev QQ100-09, SMART Status: Healthy

Thanks for taking a look.
