Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

That did it! Thanks a lot!

No sound

Hi Guys
I have almost the same problem except that I do not have an installation disc with my M/B. The bios tells me it is a SIS AC'97 onboard sound but when I try and install the drivers it creates a BSOD and portcls.sys error. I have also tried Foxconn's download and same applies, at the moment I am usin an inferior soundcard but would like my onboard back. Can anyone help? I am attaching the required information if it helps.

So I downloaded this and installed it, and then when I restarted I had sound for a bit but then it just stopped working. Sound on the internet didn't work and WMPlayer still wouldn't work. It also still prompts to install Multimedia Hardware when I startup my comp. Any ideas?

Sounds like a conflict between onboard and sound card audio, you will need to check that onboard is [Disabled] in the BIOS. All commands are done using the keyboard

Press <Delete> at Startup to enter BIOS
Main menu open http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...aim%20menu.JPG

go to Advanced menu
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...20Advanced.JPG

go to PCI Configuration - press Enter
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...figuration.JPG

go down to Onboard PCI Devices - Press Enter
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...%20Control.JPG

go to Onboard AC97 Audio
Onboard AC97 should be [Disabled] - on right in Item specific Help it should show how to change - it should be Enter

Press F10 to Save & Exit
y to changes

Windows will then load

check your audio, and if necessary install sound card driver again

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

This didn't work either =(

Umm... When I go to play an emulator it says it can't initialize DirectSound. I've downloaded and reinstalled DirectX and still no luck, maybe something to do with that?
