bookworm, I know this has been said many times before in this thread but you completely rock!!!
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I was wondering though. This seems like a fairly common problem as the number of pages in this thread do attest. Is it a virus that causes these Drivers to suddenly vanish? Surely, Windows should have come up with a guard for this type of thing.

It could be a virus called XP, but it's just Windows throwing a tantrum LOL

Downloaded the file and tried to install it and half way through it said:
Driver not found. Restart your computer and restart setup.

Sorry I couldn't seem to edit my post. I wanted to let you know I chatted with HP support and they found a driver that worked great.
Thanks again for you help.

need the motherboard Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section
Open Everest - expand Computer - select Summary - select Report - Quick Report - HTML . The report opens, using mouse hold the left button and starting at all above Debug-PCI - highlight all the text - when highlighted right click mouse - select Copy.
