Theres my make and model and everything and i seem to be having the same problems as most of you other guys. i reformatted my computer and now i cant play any music. everything on my screen is really big too and i can change it out of 16 bit color. i need alot of help. any would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I seem to have missed you, if you have managed to solve your problem then again sorry I'm so late in replying

Your model is a Gateway 300x and your serial No: 0028610264, this is needed to access gateway site

Set a System restore Point before installing each driver just in case

Go here to Gateway http://support.gateway.com/support/d...s=Windows%20XP

you need 2 drivers,
1st. My motherboards Downloads / 7512448.exe Chipset Software Installation Utility, install then RESTART your computer

2nd. My Sound Downloads / 7512451.exe SoundMAX / 5.12.01.3503 audio

Hope this helps

Didn't work. Went through the install, and still shows as 'no audio device'.

When sounds are supposed to play, just gives me the oh-so-awesome 'beep'

Thanks for you help, but where do I go from here?

Hello. Last night, I decided to run Disc Cleanup on my computer. I chose other options, and decided to uninstall some Windows Componets to free up a bit more space. I checked Msn Explorer and Games, and the proceeded to uninstall them. After they were uninstalled, I noticed that my volume icon was gone. This morning, I went to add/remove programs, and accidentally uninstalled Realtek AC97. I've tried to install it again all day, from various websites, but it just won't work.

I also keep getting the install hardware icon and process when I restart my computer. I click it, but it says I need to install a cd, or that it can't find anything. I went to my device manager, and clicked the Multimedia Audio Controller section and it said that it wasn't installed.

I'd appreciate all the help I can get. This is my system information.

Been looking around and it seems that more than one person says that driver wont work, Restore the comp to before you installed the driver and then go here to SiS http://www.sis.com/download/ under Top Downloads get the SiS 7012 driver.

Don't forget the Restore Point before installing

Hope this helps

First try a System restore to before you unistalled anything,
if that does'nt work

Set a System Restore Point before you install each driver

1st. Go here to Intel http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21
install No:4 Inf Update Utility then RESTART your comp

2nd. Go here to Realtek http://w3serv.realtek.com.tw/downloa...&Software=True
and install the audio driver.

Hope this helps

Hi. I did all that, but it still won't work. The hardware thing doesn't come up when I restart anymore, but when I go to the device manager, and check, there's an exclamation point next to Multimedia Audio Controller. I clicked it, and it said that it's not installed. I clicked reinstall driver, and it said that the files are not verified. I clicked install anyway, just to see what would happen. It backed up and set a system restore point, and it seemed like it was installing, but then it crashed my computer. I tried two more times, and it kept happening.

Do you have any idea as to why it's happening?
