Hi there - I'm having the same problem. Here's my system information:

Operating System
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

System Model
Dell Inc. Inspiron 9300
System Service Tag: DX7KV81 (support for this PC)
Chassis Serial Number: DX7KV81
Enclosure Type: Portable

Processor
2.00 gigahertz Intel Pentium M
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Main Circuit Board
Board: Dell Inc. 0C5668
Serial Number: .DX7KV81.CN129615AV6930.
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: Dell Inc. A04 06/21/2005

I tried downloading and running the Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio driver (r94481.exe) from Dell, but received an error message that said "The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware."

Help, please help...

the picture is how a motherboard looks and how the make and model is printed on it, you will need to pop the side off your computer and look at your board, use a torch, but don't touch the board at all. Then post what you see,

this is the driver from Creative for the Live series No: 1 http://uk.europe.creative.com/suppor...ct=1&x=26&y=13

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

check this to see if Sound Blaster is set as default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.
