=======
Problem caused by Windows (R) WDM driver for Realtek AC'97 (ALCXWDM.SYS)
This problem was caused by Windows (R) WDM driver for Realtek AC'97 (ALCXWDM.SYS), which was created by Realtek Semiconductor Corp.. Currently, there is no solution for the problem that you reported.

Try this:

Go to your Device Manager.
-Start > Control Panel > System > Device Manager
If there is an error, such as a bold yellow question mark, on any of your audio devices:
Then right click it and click on Update.

It will then open up a window for location of the software, leave everything as it is and click next.
Finally it will search for any updates available (may take awhile) with some luck Windows will find whats missing and will download the audio devices.

Hope this small tutorial helps you with your problem, or anyone else.

check this out

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on
down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be something “modem line 0 playback” has been substituted for the correct audio device.

if still no sound then you need to check BIOS

one point Are your audio plugs on the I/O plate or in a expansion slot, see here, click image to focus

Ok, I have tried these and it gives me the error of finding the driver has failed. This is swiveling to a dead end to where I may actually have to reformat which is the very last option, in this case. Anything else what so ever that I could try?

do you know the make and model Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates. post the whole report not the software licences or win update just to see if any clues as to the make
