I have inadvertantly deleted the audio files when stripping this very slow machine down to increase speed.

On web found info suggesting that Realtek AC'97 Audio software needed. Have downloaded and installed this - still wont work. Message I'm getting in WMPlayer is: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

No other devices running.

Any help very greatly appreciated.

regards.

Hey bookworm,
Could you help me out and give me a link to safe site to download Philips Sound Agent? I reformatted and I have a PSC60X but my Multimedia Audio Controller says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" and it doesn't bring me anywhere when I try to automatically install it.

Thanks

I have a similar problem help!

I have a dimension 8200 and i just put a Sound Blaster live! 5.1 digital (dell) into my computer and under device manager it comes up as a Multimedia Audio Controller with a question mark over it. when i turn on my computer i get a Found New Hardware wizard saying that i need to install the driver of the sound card i have gone through it and have downloaded the driver it unzips and when its trying to set up the instillation it cant find the Sound blaster card. Im guessing because the card name under device manager is called the Multimedia Audio Controller. how do i get it to work?

Complex problems

Here is the situation: I gave my old computer to a friend and I put his hard drive in and swapped mine out. No problems so far. Then once all was registered and booted, there was an error on the system hardware panel. The audio devices were not recognized and no driver was present. I used this forum to get to the motherboard website where we downloaded the adio driver. When we installed it part way through, the blue screen of death appeared. Now the device name is listed but still no driver. I had this problem minus the blue screen when i got the computer, but I corrected it. I just can't remember how. So I hooked my hard drive up as a slave to the computer and tried to find the driver with the updater and I was found and partly copied, but midway through the I got a blue screen again. What can I do to get the sound working on my friends computer?

go here to Dell http://support.dell.com/support/down...D=DIM_CEL_3000

install the Chipset driver this tells the OS which INF files it needs - then Restart your comp

then install the ADI 198x audio, if the setup.exe does not work install this way

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

USB Composite Device
USB Printing Support
USB Root Hub (4x)
Nokia 7373

I have inadvertantly deleted the audio files when stripping this very slow machine down to increase speed.

On web found info suggesting that Realtek AC'97 Audio software needed. Have downloaded and installed this - still wont work. Message I'm getting in WMPlayer is: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

No other devices running.

Any help very greatly appreciated.

regards.

these are the drivers for that board, audio is C-media http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=P4i65G

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

Can't find the 661MO3 board at Foxconn, suspect the board was made for Tiny
Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section

Open Everest - expand Computer - select Summary - select Report - Quick Report - HTML . The report opens, using mouse hold the left button and starting at all above Debug-PCI - highlight all the text - when highlighted right click mouse - select Copy
Then open post – right click mouse – select Paste and the report will insert.

Im guessing because the card name under device manager is called the Multimedia Audio Controller. how do i get it to work?

Install this way, by right clicking the Multimedia Audio Controller and pointing XP to the driver, you will need the path to where you unzipped the files
