That is, it appears to keep playing but the picture is frozen. Any .mpg file I try, doesn't matter the size or length, freezes up after 2:40. I downloaded an open-source viewer called VLC and it freezes up in exactly the same way.

Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

This is an eMachines T2958, 2.66gHz, 256k L2 cache, 512MB SDRAM. The graphics control is an Intel Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV, with a driver version 6.14.10.3722. Dated 11/20/2003.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

This is the link to your eMachine drivers http://www.emachines.com/support/pro...es&model=T2958
select downloads, it appears you have the driver that eMachines first supplied. Intel have a newer version go here http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21
it's number 1 in the list.Version 14.10.3.4342 dated 28/06/2005

Set a System Restore Point before installing any drivers just in case

Hope this helps

Now this I am not 100% sure, on Intel boards it's the Chipset driver that controls USB, so assuming it's the same with SiS go back to Fujitsu Siemens and install the Chipset driver.

Don't forget the Restore Point just in case

Hope this helps

Whats the make and model of your comp, search for a sticker on the tower. Get Everest and post findings http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml

it may tell me more.
