Exclamation

I'm sorry if a problem similar to this has already been posted in the thread, but 466 pages is too much to search.

My problems began shortly after I upgraded to service pack 3. Whenever I go to Device Manager, under "Other Devices" I have "Multimedia Controller" and "Multimedia Video Controller, both with the yellow circle with the ! inside, which means they need to be updated. Windows Update can't do it, and I've tried reinstalling my graphics card and audio device drivers, with no success.

Now, the weird part is I mostly have sound, but some programs/games have sound errors, while others crash due to sound related issues (the error message is the standard windows one). This is more annoying than it seems.

Sorry for the long post, but I believe that if someone is going to take some of their time to answer my question, the least I should do is take some of my own time explaining my problem as best as I can. Thanks in advance

try a system file check, you will need the xp disc

go to Run - type "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes and note the space after sfc) - have the xp disc available in case sfc needs to repair or replace any files
