this is what I do, I always save files just to be sure, there will be a setup.exe file to install with

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Hello There!

Hey, I'm having a similar problem as everyone else seemed to be have, no sound coming from my computer, possibly the new speakers are to be blamed (attached to the new Moniter).

My computer had to be fixed after a virus, and a few things were changed, such as the OS to WindowsXp Pro. Also, It says I have no active mixers when I try to open "Volume Control", and also when I go to "Sounds and Audio Devices" in the Control Panel, the Audio tab is grayed out.

I did a Belarc Profile for the system information, and these are the results:

Operating System:
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600)

System Model:
Enclosure Type: Desktop

Hope you can help. :-)

Thank you for guiding me in the right direction to find the sound device I need, however....my sound has still failed to come back. The error that I am now getting is "can't find suitable sound device to playback" and the device manager states that the device is not configured correctly. what should i or can i do at this point?? :0(

your help is greatly appreciated!
