Also tested sound on headphones but still nothing.

try a System File Check

go to Run - type "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes and note the space after sfc) - have the xp disc available in case sfc needs to repair or replace any files

no sound after reinstalling windows xp

Hi bookworm,

I wrote a private message to you yesterday. Thanks so much for replying. I looked under "Sounds, video and game controllers," and it lists Legacy audio driver as my audio driver. I went to the Legacy website and downloaded the file. I tried downloading it and an error message comes up. I says "The 1-StudioCard returned a PCI device ID not found error!" I also went to Lenovo and downloaded the audio file, and it doesn't work. I bought a refurbished computer.

Here's my Everest report. It'd be great if you could help. Thanks.
