hello

I need your assistance, please. I have a K8V-X SE motherboard, on which I've been trying to install a sound driver for about 2 days now. there seems to be a problem. I tried on the ASUS oficial site, selected my motherboard type there and downloaded the ACPI driver they gave me but to no avail. Then I tried the other way around. I installed a system "diagnose" program [AIDA32] with which I tried to identify the driver I need. Again I couldn't do nothing.
While trying to locate a suitable site that would allow me to download this driver I cam across this forum, so here I am, asking for help. Do you have any ideas on how I could fix this, please? I would very much apreciate it, thank you.

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

Your Inspiron can have one of 2 drivers, see here http://support.euro.dell.com/support...RONI6400/E1505

go here to Asus http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us
input OS click Search

audio is Soundmax listed under Audio, if it does not work you may need to install the chipset, this is listed under Others and is the Via 4 in 1 driver package

soundmax can be picky to install

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.
