Someone Plz Help! No Sound!!!

I just installed Win XP home and lost my audio driver in the process. I am running a dell 2350 and have installed all other drivers. When i downloaded the right audio driver from dell and attempted to install it says i must open not save this file. but it only says SAVE or Cancel. Not like all the other drivers that give me the option to OPEN. I went to save any ways and when i go to run setup it gives me an error...error installing iKernel.exe0x10000).
Someone plz help. i have tried to update driver from device manager but it cannot find it.

Ive just started an account on here so i could ask for help, you see I have a problem with my multimedia audio controller and cant get any sound! when i go onto windows media player it comes up saying i dont have a sound device installed when i have one installed. I have tried redownloading windows media player but still no sound.

Also When i try to install the controller it says that it cannot find the software. i think this may of been because my PC was recently of full capacity of memory, so i decided to delete everything i dont need and i think i might have deleted the software and device by accident.

i used the belarc advisor and here were the results:

Someone plz help. i have tried to update driver from device manager but it cannot find it.

this is the driver http://support.euro.dell.com/support...3&fileid=67126

install this way, useing the If No Setup File method

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

So all working again now.
