Some information was removed, due to person belief of uselessness.

It's not giveing the motherboard Get Everest / copy and paste the Computer – Summary section. Leave out the Debug –PCI section.

check this first

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

if stil no sound follow this
I'm presuming the external audio device uses a USB port, if so install the Intel chipset driver from Intel then Restart your comp, it should recognise the externak audio device

Bios settings shows this number:
RG84510A.15A.0037.p15

Im running windows xp pro

Please let me know i have also emailed gateway but they are still trying to figure it out

I can give more info if need but i need to make the sound work!!

Ok so i have downloaded the driver from that new site. When i try to add new driver i get a message saying "the specified location does not contain your hardware" I went thru the whole process of "have disk" and it still does no good. The number provided in the readme doesnt even match my bios number.

this is the part of the BIOS that should and does match RG84510A

you may need to force XP to use this driver, install this way and use the If No Setup File method

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

don't forget the Restore Point

check this out

and this

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot
