This is incredibly bizarre, but it seems my sound is back and the multimedia audio controller problem is gone. I have done absolutely nothing and somehow it just figured out how to fix itself. This is just very strange but it kind of worries me to what the problem is, because I'm worried it will reoccur. Anyway thanks everyone here at Softaretipsandtricks forums, especially bookworm!

Unfortunately, I'm sure I'll be back here some other time asking questions but until then, good luck with all of your computer problems!

Hello, i hope you can help me. I am having major issues with my computer starting with my multimedia audio controller. I reformatted XP about 4 days ago and i'm having a lot of issues with yellow marks.

I have an onboard sound card and a sound blaster live 24 bit sound card. The SB Live card is not being detected. I have removed it and the multimedia audio controller goes away. I have my onboard disabled in the bios and still get the error. I used the disks that came with my computer to install the drivers with no luck. SB says I don't have a card. My info is Below. I Hope you can help.

Thanks

What devices have the yellow question marks against them, with a custom built, you can use Device Manager and the Motherboard CD to install any driver you need. Post back with information please.

Cheers

Hello, thanks for responding. Ethernet Controller, Raid Controller, OHCI Compliant IEEE, and of course multimedia audio controller have yellow marks.

I have installed the ethernet controller from the disk and it will detect it but then it will still have a yellow mark.

The IEEE will work, then have yellow, then work.

The raid controller.....I have no clue why it's doing the yellow mark. And the multimedia does it unless the SB Live card is not installed in the system. Right now I have it out and no multimedia error.

When I first came back from the reboot I used all the disks i had to update the computer....none of it is working.

Hope this helps, thanks.

The first driver on the Motherboard CD is the Nvidia Chipset driver, this needs to installed before any other drivers, once installed you need to RESTART your comp. You can get the latest driver from ASUS http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us
top left Input Model to Search, key in your board A8N-SLI Premium and you will find your Nvidia Chipset driver on the Latest tab.

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case

Hope this helps

On thought, install the drivers one at a time, makeing a restore point before each one, that way you may have more success.

Cheers

The chipset driver is the one for XP, V6.65, now you have updated the chipset you will need to install the other drivers that are missing.Get them from the ASUS site.

Hope this helps

Ok, downloaded the realtek driver from ASUS and it knocked the IEEE back to the yellow mark and nothing else changed.

Not sure what else to do. Do you think I should take it to a computer shop? Could I have a hardware problem?
