I tried downloading the realtek file and when I installed-half way through my computer crashed. Everytime I start up windows I get a (new found hardware bubble for realtek) everytime I click it, it tells me to install the hardware. Everytime I do it ask me for the AlCXWDM file same with soundmax but instead of ALCXWDM it ask me for MidiSyn.sys file. When I finnaly downloaded the ALCXWDM the bubble didn't ask for it but at the end of installation my computer crash. I can't find the midisyn.sys file for soundmax but if you could help me out that would be great.

Thanks for dealing with my computer nonsense BookWorm.

Hey,
I'm not sure what I did I was cleaning out junk on computer and I think I deleted my sound driver. I looked in control panel and it says "No Audio Devices". When I go into Device Manger it has a yellow ? next to Multimedia Audio Controller, i have tried tried to update it but it is not working. I am not sure what information you need exactly.
My computer is

Acer
System Model: Aspire E360
BIOS Version: Phoenix Technologies, LTD R01-B2

Operating System
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version: 5.1.2600
Service Pack: 2.0
Location: C:\WINDOWS

Processor
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+
Version: x86 Family 15 Model 47 Stepping 2
Speed: 2210 MHz

I have no idea how to find all the info on my computer, but I can't seem to get sound so if you could help me that would be very nice. Thanks ^.^

Hey,
Well I figured it out, even though you were not on you helped me, I was reading through old posts and saw that you were giving out sites to go to for different drivers, I managed to search thru system info and find where my driver was deleted and the name of it, then saw on this site a link that matched my driver, I went to it and downloaded it and it worked so thanks for help hehe ^.^

Hey I found the linnk and realized that I have already downloaded that many times and nothing new happens. I am still unable to hear anything. I am wondering is there something that I'm supposed to do specifically? I tried both options of saving and opening but nothing new happens. Am I supposed to do something when I save it? Like extract or something.

Thanks for the help so far and in the future

Hello! I downloaded the driver but when i install it ,at the end,the computer shutes down- as if the energy was abruptly interrupted- and it returns to prevois state. It just interrupts, it can't complete the process. It's a paradox: i have the driver but i can't complete the installation! Thanks for the assistance and i stiil need help!

check this to see if Realtek is default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

if still no audio get the driver from Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...tDown=false#AC

Click I Accept – wait for site to reload – click Next

Download the (Executable) file – save to desktop – double click downloaded file and follow installation instructions.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
