did you install this way

Hard Drive Installation (via WinZip) with Setup.exe File for R56339.EXE

Download

1.Click Download Now, to download the file.
2.When the File Download window appears, click Save (Windows XP
users will click Save) this program to disk and click OK. The Save In:
window appears.
3.From the Save In: field, click the down arrow then click to
select Desktop and click Save. The file will download to your desktop.
4.If the Download Complete window appears, click Close. The file
icon appears on your desktop.

Install

1.Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled R56339.EXE.
2.The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to extract or
unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\r56339. Write down this path so the executable (I.e.
Setup.exe) file can be found later.
3.The Self-Extractor window appears.
4.Click OK.
5.After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor
window is still open, close it.
6.Click the Start button and then click Run.
7.Type C:\DELL\DRIVERS\r56339 in the Open textbox and then click OK.
8.Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

Goto your BIOS and...

Hey,

I just recently had a problem with my audio similar to what your having. All the drivers are loaded up, but when I go to load an .mp3 or anything for sound, I got the same message on my WMP (windows media player).

I saw five-hundred something pages for this thread, but what I did was this:

I went into my Bios and went through every setting until I found an option to "enable" audio. I am assuming that you are trying to activate the sound from the motherboard- if that is the case, give the Bios a shot!

Hope this helps...

Smile Multimedia Audio Controller & PCI Simple Comminucation Controller

Hi,

I am having a similar problem to this, yellow question mark under AND exclamation mark. Using the troubleshooter i think i have a hardware conflict.

I have followed the instructions in device manager, viewed resources by type, and you can see that the PCI Simple communications controller and multimedia audio controller have Yellow Question marks under Interupt Request (IRQ) and the Memory.

Please help, i'm not sure where to go to solve this problem. I am using the Monitor's built in speakers, and can't get any sounds. When in Window Media Player no music can be played, i get an error message saying there is a problem with the sound device. I've looked under Sound Devices and it says there is no device installed.

I haven't used this PC in 2 years but used to get sound through the monitor fine by plugging into the back of the PC.

Please help!! Thanks
