first check this

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot

if still no sound, go to Asus - under Utilities install the Via 4 in 1 driver ( Chipset ) then RESTART your comp - then install audio again

Hi I have the same problem of the yellow question mark, Belarc detecting no multimedia etc. Please could you help me identify what I need to install? I deleted Realtek Sound Manager, as I thought it was an additional music player, so I guess I need to re-install it, but the Realtek website is just confusing. According to Belarc my computer stats are:
Processor: 2.65Ghz Intel Celeron
Desktop with Windows XP HESP2 (build 2600)
Motherboard: Foxconn P4M800P7MB, Serial Number: UY3S61102766
I hope this is the info you need. I do hope you can help!

Hi Bookworm. Don't worry about my earlier request - by looking at your earlier advice to others I've found what to install, and so far it's working fine If it stops working, I'll be back for help. For the meantime, thanks a million for your help to others, which helped me
