Hi I have picked up on this thread as now I also am having problems playing sound after I had to re-instal xp on my pc due to a fault. I have got the following information from the balarc advisor:

Packard Bell NEC PB13318701
System Serial Number: 048213120385
Chassis Serial Number: 50424E
Enclosure Type: Desktop

Board: NEC COMPUTERS INTERNATIONAL MS-7168 1.0
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 080012 07/20/2005

Can you please tell me what I need to instal to get this working again. Like the original questions some time ago i have the big yellow question marks. Also I am really a novice at this so some advice on how to instal would be good unless its an auto process in which case even I should manage it.

check this out

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

Okay, thanks bookworm, I will see if it works...
But one real quick thing:
I hate it when people act like I have no knowledge of the computer

You give me step by step instructions, I only needed the download link.

I am 13, but I am getting ready for college in the Computer Science field, I know HTML and I am learning C++ and PHP..

Sorry if I sound rude.

As I have no way of knowing your level of expertise, I use the premise, that too much information is better than too little.
