Reinstalled Windows, now I seem to be having the same problem as others - question mark next to multimedia audio controller. I've been working for two days on this problem and can't seem to find the right driver (I don't even know what sound card I have; I had my computer built several years ago).

Here are the system specs that I found using CPU-Z/CPUID:

OS: Windows XP Home SP2

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Mainboard: (abit)
-Model: NF-95 (NVIDIA GeForce6100)
-Chipset: GeForce 6100
-Southbridge: nForce 410/430 MCP
-LCPIO Winbond W83627ehf

BIOS: Phoenix
-Version 6.00 PG
-Date 4/03/2006

All PCI

I don't know if this is enough info - please let me know if there's anything else you need. Thank you in advance for your help!

these are the drivers from Abit

no audio listed, but install the nForce4 chipset driver - this includes an audio driver - then Restart your comp

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

PCV-C11L is a part No: not the model get Belarc, copy and paste the report but leave out the win update section and the Software Licence section it gives your Win Product code

Are you’re audio plugs on the I/O plate or in an Expansion slot – see here – click image to focus

driver here http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us

try installing this way use the If No Setup File method

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it (make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
