go back to Dell and install the Chipset - then Restart your comp
http://support.euro.dell.com/support...atid=&im pid=

it tells the OS which INF files it needs

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

you now need to check if audio is [Enabled] in the BIOS this is how - print off so you can refer to

as soon as comp boots press the <Delete> key - click the images to focus

Main menu opens
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...201%20Main.JPG

use the right arrow key to select Advanced menu
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...20Advanced.JPG

scroll to bring up the PCI Configuration
use the down arrow key to select PCI Configuration - press Enter key
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...I%20Config.JPG

use down arrow to select Onboard PCI Devices Control - press Enter key
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0C ontrol.JPG

Onboard AC97 controller should be set to [Enabled]

if [Disabled] use down arrow key to select

use + key to change

F10 key to Save & Exit

y key to accept changes

XP will load

install audio driver again

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions
