I/O plate

I went to the Dell site and tried to download the driver i think i needed and this is the message I get when the download starts.

"cannot download the application. The application is missing required files. contact application vendor for assistance"

Also when I click on my media player this is the error message I get

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly'"

I used my restore point and put everything back the way it was first with the yellow question marks.

BOOKWORM, I did what you wrote and it still gives me the same message when trying to download the updated drivers from Dell. Here is a snap shot of my Device manager. As you can see it says I have Lagacy Audio Drivers.

Mine is in the I/O Plate. Now I wait for your help :-)

i have 2 sound card 1 for yamaha and other intex..yamaha legacy driver are showing error code 10.. but yamaha native are installed.. no sound from speakers??

get Belarc, copy and paste the report but leave out the win update section and the Software Licence section it gives your Win Product code

Hi,,, I have the same problem,,,I don't seem to have sound on my computer. That is, from the speakers anyway, I format my pc and upgrade to WinXP, I don't have audio. When I checked the device manager, under Other Devices, Multimedia Audio Controller and sm bus controller had a yellow question mark in front of it. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I try different ways to fix this but nothing works.
