Create a System Restore Point just in case

Go here to get your driver it is No: 4 Audio : ADI 1985 http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21

If sound does not work, you will have to go back and download No:5 the INF- Intel chipset driver, install and then install the sound driver again. The best way to go is to save these files in a place where you can easily find them. They are both exe. files just double click them they will install automatocally.

hope this helps

barbara, you are a goddess!

Could you please try and help me, completely new to this so please be gentle.
I installed new updates from windows and since that time, no sound.
In device manager the yellow mark was against C-media ac97, in properties it stated cannot work code 10. I have uninstalled this now.
I think my motherboard is a K7S6A ?
I have run Belarc and have got the following report.

It keeps saying there is an direct sound error even though we downloaded the soundblaster live 24-bit drivers. I have a feeling it has something to do with this unimodem half-duplex audio device?

Thanks in advance!

Here are all the drivers for the board,http://support.euro.dell.com/support...os=WW1&osl=EN#

if you look under Audio you will see the board has intergrated drivers, so it appears that another sound card has been installed, if the onboard sound has not been disabled in the BIOS you will have a conflict between the sound devices. Also look at the chipset driver, this enables software to be installed, I would firstupdate this and then install the Soundblaster live 24-bit drivers again.

Hope this helps

Can you please help me as well I seem to have the same problem in device manager my multimedia audio controller has a big yellow question mark next to it.

I was just playing a song off my PC when it started to make a jumping sound so I turned of the PC because it froze and crashed and from then no sound at all .

My computer is a:

Dell Dimension 8250
Running windows xp service pack 2
3.06 ghz

Please could you talk me through the installation of any drivers as well please I really hope you will help me as well thanks for your time.

David

P.S It might be worth mentioning but when I load my PC it says something about plug and play devices right at the start and asks weather I want to press f1 to load the computer or f2 to load setup
