the only question mark in the device manager is in other devices multimedia audio controller. Any thoughts?

check this to see if Soundmax is default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device

if not install the Chipset driver - then Restart your comp - look at installation instructions

chipset driver http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-58627

then install the audio driver - look at installation instructions
audio driver http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-58599

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver Each just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore – click radio button Create a restore point and follow instructions

Exclamation Help! I have no audio

I don't seem to have sound on my computer. I've been getting rid off of some old programs that I was no longer using, and even though I tried to be careful and make sure before uninstalling that I wasn't deleting something I DO need/use, somehow I lost my multimedia audio controllers Now when I start Windows it says it found new hardware, and I tried to use the restore system checkpoints, but it didn't work.

Can you help me please finding the drivers I need? I already went to Belarc and this is what it says about my computer:

Reset BIOS defaults, if and try again. If you get the same message, try and format your machine 1 more time, if it still doesn't work, you could be looking at an hardware failure rather than a software (driver).

Get in touch with your tech department, or company you brought it off. and see if they can arrange a repair. Or buy another sound card, that'll fit into your PCi slot.

I'm having the same problem

I don't know what to look for, and I can't see anything saying 'Audio' anywhere
Also, I don't even know whether I am using on-board sound (but I assume, that's the case)

A few things that might help:
Board: NF-CK804
Serial Number: WLKI53300486

Thanks in advance,
Ryan.

first This driver will only work if your audio plug is one the I/O plate – see here – click image to focus
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...0io%20slot.JPG

try installing this way -- use the If No Setup File method

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it (make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

don't forget the Restore Point
