I think it's because they were updates, try this go to Google and search Intel / Intel Corpuration / top of page Support & Downloads / Download Center / left colum Find Downloads box - type D865PERL / Find / Intel Desktop Board D865PERL / OS Windows XP / GO
See if it works useing your own path, I can't send the file as my Outlook blocks these kind of attatchments.I'll keep looking
or try this link http://www.intel.com/index.htm?iid=H...Header_UShome&

I think it may be your browser settings, have you a popup blocker on, and it could be your firewall settings as well. What browser do you use.

ok i downloaded the one u told me from intel website
i installed it in my installation i encountered this
====================
hardware installation
soundmax integrated digital audio
hasnot passed windows logo testing to verify its compability wi windows xp.(tell me why this testing is important)
counting this installation of this software may impairor destabilize the correct opperation of your system either immediatly or in the future.microsoft strongly recommands that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has that has passed windows logo testing.
============================
i pressed on countinue anyway
then it asked me to reboot so i rebooted but nuttin happens

Audio Driver Problem
I have the same problem as most of the other people who have posted on this thread. I have a Model MX6124 Gateway laptop with S/N: T375911011631 and Win XP home. The difference is that i have been to the gateway website and downloaded the driver and it still doesnt work. My comp wont find the driver...even when i tell it which folder it is in. I got all my other drivers form the same page and they worked just fine so i should be in the right spot. If i run the HXFSetup.exe, nothing seems to happen. If i run the regular Setup.exe, it says installation failed. Do you have any thoughts?
Dan

Hi
I have tried to read all hints about the problem with the Multimedia Audio Controller but I do not fird the solution to my specific problem.
Everything worked just fine yesterday, I noticed to my surprise though that when opening the volume icon in the task bar I could do more than before, like I was able to add several volume adjustment meters for all speakers, left, right, rear, subwoofer, center etc. I have never been able to do this before and i have no idea how it happened that this was added.
I installed the new Itunes the same morning but does not see how this could affect the volume adjustments.
Today thoughh when starting my computer I getthis problem with the installation of Hardware and no software to be found, a big yellow question mark...you know. I have tried to restore my PC to before I installed the new iTunes, didn't help
I have a Compac Presario 8693, I went to HP site and downloaded the Realtek AC 97 update, I went to the sites recommended here and downloaded the Realtek installation file. I did run the application files and rebooted the PC several times but the only thing that happens is that the installation program tells me that I have two options, search on Internet or on a spefic place on the PC. I do not kow where the drivers mighthave been installed so I opt for start searching on internet and the installation program keeps going for several minutes before it simply says that now software was found. What to do now?
I have seen you helping several blocs and put my hope that you can give me support also. No musik anymore, no microphone... nothing works
