Hi I have been reading through this thread it has been somewhat useful, however I have tried so meany things mentioned on it butr wtill have a problem with my sound after clean installing home edition w/sp1&2, originally the media controller was intel 82801 DB/DBL Audio Controller, I then tried to update it using some information i found on the net and in this thread, from the intel site, but still nothing. As far as I can see the volume is not muted or anything I have worked through the XP troubleshoot also. Initially I had yellow question marks next to Multimedia controller, PCI controller and Ethernet controller, I have only attemted to fix multimedia controller. when running the everest check I found that the PnP audio page showed the intel audio controller that I installed but the Windows Audio page shows nothing, below is the information from my Belarc Output, i hope it helps in helping me.

Frustration

Just recently I reformatted a HP a1400e computer. There is one problem that I am having and that is when ever I try to install realtek audio drivers it says that I need to install Microsoft's Universal Audio Architecture High Definition audio bus driver first. The motherboard's specs can be found here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...dlc=en&lang=en

I am a newbie with computers so please I need help

This is the link to your Intel D845EBG2 motherboard
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...5&submit=Go%21

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case

First install No:8 the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility, then RESTART your comp.

Check Device Manager after this installation, to see if you need other drivers,or not

Then if still no sound install No:4 the audio driver.

No:3 is your Ethernet driver,

Hope this helps

Checked specs with HP, you could have a Creative Sound Blaster sound card installed, it's a high end spec system you have, try this driver from Realtek, the version HP offer does not match the Realtek version http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...Audio%20CODECs

download the (Excution file) save to desktop, double click to install,if that fails get Belarc ( free ) copy and paste the report, should show if a sound card is installed http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Set a System Restore Point before installing driver just in case

Hope this helps

Exclamation no sound device- I know you could fix it!:D

Hi expert(s),

I'm having exactly the same problems with "no sound device".
I have scanned my computer with Belarc Advisor and the information is as follow:

-OS: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
-System Model: MEDIONPC MS-7012
Enclosure Type: Desktop
-Processor : 3,00 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
-Main Circuit Board: Board: MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD MS-7012
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 09/29/2003
-(if needed)Multimedia: C-Media AC97 Audio Device
Logitech Microphone (Pro 4000)
MEDION (7134) WDM Video Capture
MEDION TV-TUNER 7134 MK2/3
Met MPU-401 compatibel MIDI-apparaat
-If you need anything else, just ask

I think a know the origin of my problem: it started after I did a "fault control".
Like everyone else in this topic, my problem is similar, but not exacly the same: I have a big yellow question mark in front of "Microsoft Kernel Wave-audiomixer" and "Microsoft Kernel-audiosplitsing"(language OS: both Dutch).

I hope you could help me: today I have searched already on about 10 forums but it looks like this one is the best.
(I really hope you could help me, otherwise I have to format my beauty!)

Best regards, Asgaro

It appears you have a Medion computer, will need the S/N number shown on the back to check audio driver, one suspicion, C-media is shown "if needed" you may have a sound card, Do you have a Win XP cd or recovery discs.

Cheers

heres the link to your driver, http://www.medion.co.uk/

Drivers & Updates - click More / enter your Serial number / your C-media audio driver is listed. This is the UK site this is the link to Medion International where you can choose the country of you choice, the rules to Search are the same all you need is your Serial number http://www.medion.com/

Hope this helps

I tried this solution today already but it didn't work for me.
Remember I have no big yellow question mark in front of "C-Media AC97 Audio Device".
If I right-click on "Microsoft Kernel Wave-audiomixer" and then select "properties", I see in a dialog "Windows kan het apparaatstuurprogramma voor dit apparaat niet in het geheugen laden. Mogelijk is het stuurprogramma beschadigd of het ontbreekt. (Code 39)
Klik op Probleem oplossen om de probleemoplosser voor dit apparaat te starten."

[Translated to Enlish(just trying)]=Windows couldn't load the program in the memory. Possibly the program is broken or isn't there. (Code 39)
Click on Resolve Problem to start the problem resolver voor this device.
