Remember I have no big yellow question mark in front of "C-Media AC97 Audio Device".
If I right-click on "Microsoft Kernel Wave-audiomixer" and then select "properties", I see in a dialog "Windows kan het apparaatstuurprogramma voor dit apparaat niet in het geheugen laden. Mogelijk is het stuurprogramma beschadigd of het ontbreekt. (Code 39)
Klik op Probleem oplossen om de probleemoplosser voor dit apparaat te starten."

[Translated to Enlish(just trying)]=Windows couldn't load the program in the memory. Possibly the program is broken or isn't there. (Code 39)
Click on Resolve Problem to start the problem resolver voor this device.

take a look at this for a resolution to error code 39 from M$ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123/EN-US/

Hope this helps

Just one more little question:
what should I uninstall: "C-Media AC97 Audio Device(doesn't have yellow marker)" or "Microsoft Kernel Wave-audiomixer(has yellow marker)".

This may be a way to go, Device Manager can install drivers from recovery discs. Load the Recovery cd - bring up the task bar - right click recovery cd - select close- leave in drive, Go to device manager - right click problem device/ select update - and follow instructions, it should find the driver or file you need from the disc.

Hope this helps

Ok, I'll try this solution over a couple of hours (because it's 2.40 a.m. in Belgium by now).

Many thanks, Asgaro

Thumbs up Found a solution!

Yes, finally, my sound device works again after trying one of your solutions!

THANK YOU

First I tried to search for drivers from the recovery disks(like you said in latest "possible solution-post". This didn't work.
Then I tried the solution where you gave me a link to Microsoft wich contains a solution to code 39. From then, the big in front of "Microsoft Kernel Wave-audiomixer" and "Microsoft Kernel-audiosplitsing" was gone!(the names from the related programmas were changed, but I don't care).
Afterwards, without rebooting first, I installed the C-Media drivers again and then I rebooted. And the sound was BACK!

Again, many many thanks!

Best regards, Asgaro

Please

Can you check this first
Check Control Panel / Sound & Audio Devices / Properties / Audio Tab / Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio device is selected; something like modem line 0 playback might have been substituted for the proper audio device. Information by Jim Pivonka.

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case

This is the link to your ECS K7SA 1.0 motherboard http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Downloa...uID=35&LanID=9

your audio is SiS 7012, install the driver, if you still have no sound then install the PCtel AMR/CNR Modem driver, it is an Audio Modem Riser and they appear to both have an effect on sound.

Hope this helps

, input serial number into Gateway it gives this Gateway E4100 Delux http://support.gateway.com/support/d...s=Windows%20XP
2 SoundMax drivers, try the 9521983.exe

but search for the Gateway Midway gives these drivers http://support.gateway.com/support/d...=pn&param=4053

the audios are different, and the popup suggests the wrong driver, have you installed a sound card at all.

Now in right pane a facility to scan for Gateway drivers automatically is offered.

Hope this helps
