ok
Well...I got rid of most things in my temp file, and it now only occupies 144MB. Now, I really need to focus on this sound problem. Any more suggestions since the first one didn't work? Thanks in advance.

Ok, one thing if you run Disc cleanup it will show how much space you can save by deleting files, temp files can be removed safetly, Disc Cleanup is available under Accessories/ System Tools.
this is how I do it, in My Documents I have a folder named Downloads, everything goes in there, when Save to Disc is selected - click Browse - and choose the Download folder. After you have downloaded the file, make a note of it, then still in the Download folder create another folder - name unzipped before the name of the file you are unzipping.
Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
Go back to Intel http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21
download the audio it will show as wdm3516b_Cadenza.exe - save where you can easily find - unzip - then double click the Setup ( a blue square that has what looks like a little computer in it ) this will launch the SoundMax installer.
Hope this helps

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
2 boards shown at MSI both use Realtek ALC650 or ALC655 go here to Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True
download the (Excution file) save to desktop, double click to install
Hope this helps

Uh oh!
Thanks. So, I downloaded it to my documents, and had the stuff unzipped to a file that I could easily access. I clicked set up, and it asked me for a few drivers. All were located in system32, so everything worked out. BUT...(always a but) when I opened the program (soundMAX), something called SynthCore Error reports that it "Could not initialize audio output." Now I'm really lost. Any suggestions?

It appears you have System Files missing, do this go to Device Manager
right click My Computer / Properties/ Hardware Tab/ Device Manager / at top click View / click Show Hidden Devices exit device manager. Then expand System and see if any faults are showing.
Go to Run / type " sfc /scannow" ( without quotes and note space after sfc ) have Win CD available in case sfc needs to replace or repair damaged files, but you should not need it. sfc will run and then close.
You may need to update the chipset but try this first.
Hope this helps

Thanks.
Ok so I did what you said, but how do I run system?
I copied it into run, and it said please wait while it verifies that I have the original version files or something like that. And then it asked me for the disc. I do not have this disk. I have a package with all the cds that this computer came with, but the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 is not there. I don't know why. Now, I am once again, stuck. Thank you for replying though.

Did you first go to Device Manager to make sure Show Hidden Devices was selected, if you did then go back to Device manager, make sure Show Hidden Devices is selected scroll to System- expand and check to see if any problems highlighted.
Cheers

Oh ok.
Even before I did this, I had exclamation marks. Yellow ones, by the way lol.
One entitled Unknown Device:The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
One entitled Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
And the last, which I am really worried about is Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
I noticed these problems and I KNOW they are part of the sound problem. And what is this chipset thing you are referring too?
Thanks again for replying!
