What did your friend do with your HD, did he have the same motherboard as you, the same chipet, OS did he alter anything that you know of.

Let me know.

Hey, everything is checked i changed all the settings like changing the device to AC'tek audio etc etc...! actually my friend ddnt do anything with the HD, but earlier i had some issues with my sound card, sound was a bit floppy...! it was alright afterwards, but after he took my HD sound was yet again floppy,
well actually after he returned the HD to me and after i fixed it back in, i couldnt start up my PC, some veryfiyng DMI pool data thingy came up, it normally does when i open up my case and move the wires a bit ( the wires connecting the HD, CD-ROM)
but after i managed to make my PC my sound was failing, everytime i hibernate, i lose my sound, so i thought of opening up my PC and give the Sound card a little shake, i even checked the wires connecting the sound card. after checking the sound card i turned on my PC again, then i lost my sound, i managed to get it back ( by restarting) but when i was listening to some music, i lost my sound completly...>!
PS- now, i think all the devices r ok, cuz i dont get any errors, even Windows media player wont give that error anymore, but i still cant hear!
thanx in advance!

Hey... I'm in dire need of some help.. I have a gateway laptop and i reinstalled windows. When I reinstalled Windows, I noticed it didnt have any of the drivers such as the sound drivers or the network ones. So i went to Gateway support...and I downloaded all the drivers. I got all the drivers to work except one...The sound.... The multimedia audio controller in devices has a ?! next to it... and the one I got from the gateway website doesn't work. Everytime I click on the setup, it confirms that Im about to install so I press install , then a few seconds later, the window pops up and it saids the install was a failure... I would really appreciate some help as i stood up last nite for 4 hours trying to figure out a solution. Tried the Realtek ac97 drivers or w.e they are called and they didnt work.

Gateway MX6450 <<<<Thats my system model for the laptop.

My motherboard seems to be manufactured from Gateway itself...seems really nice they only have one sound driver for this

Board: Gateway 6802

Any help would really be appreciated and thanks..=)
