This is the link to the onboard sound drivers from Asus, but looks like you have a Creative sound card installed, are the radio jacks positioned near to your mouse and keyboard sockets or lower down on the tower

Near to keyboard and mouse go here to Asus http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us
top left under downloads Input Model to Search - type A7V600/A7V600/Audio / your Soundmax driver

Lower down tower then we need to identify our sound card, do you know the make and model of your comp.

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps

Thankyou so much for replying Barbara.
So I downloaded the file, and it seemed it was going to work. Then it asked for AGP440.SYS. I searched for the file on msn, but I was unable to retrieve it. I even did a search on my computer for the file, with the word AGP440. I decided to proceed, and see what other files are needed. When I pressed cancel to it says "The current operating system supports the intel chipset devices on your system. No INF update is needed." Uh oh. That can't be good.

OK I think I have found the problem...

When I double click my audio controller, I click on the driver tab. Then, I click on driver details and it has a list of needed files and whether I have them digitally signed. I'm not sure what that means, but only ks.sys and ac97ich4.sys don't have a green check mark beside them. It seems to fit the explanation: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39). Maybe those two files are missing, but I cannot find them.

It also seems to be the same reason that my web cam doesn't work. Some drivers are missing. Any idea where I can get those? I believe I have them both, but for some reason, it's not detecting them...

Okay, I'm having a problem with my multimedia audio device as well. When I turn my computer on, it prompts me to install a "Multimedia Audio Controller" with the new hardware wizard. I try to install it, and it tells me that it cannot detect the software needed to install it. I'm totally stuck. =/

I read a bit in the earlier parts of this forum and ran the Belarc program. Here are the results.

Operating System
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

System Model
Gateway T3120
System Serial Number: CCA63 E00 13789
Enclosure Type: Desktop

Processor
2.00 gigahertz AMD Sempron
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
128 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Main Circuit Board
Board: First International Computer, Inc. K8MC51G PCB 1.x
Serial Number: C3S6362958
Bus Clock: 201 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 01/13/2006

Controllers
Primary IDE Channel [Controller] (2x)
Secondary IDE Channel [Controller] (2x)
Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller (2x)

Display
NVIDIA GeForce 6100 [Display adapter]
Proview PS576 [Monitor] (14.9"vis, s/n FFWZ35120241U, May 2003)

Multimedia
None detected

My problem is with the whole "none detected" aspect of that report. x_x I've been trying to get this worked out and the Microsoft troubleshooter is of minimal help.

If you can help, it's much appreciated.
