Hi. Wow! I believe I'm having the same problem like anyone else in this particular forum, and I just can't seem to resolve my issue on my own. I need angels.

I have Winamp, iTunes and Realtek installed in my computer but I just can't play any files in this programs. I totally lost my audio, I have an Altec Lansing - if that could help. I checked my Device Manager and uninstalled Multimedia Audio Controller since there's a flag on it. My problem actually started when I uninstalled Realtek so I installed it back just yesterday using the link posted in the first part of this forum.

These pieces of information might help:

Computer Manufacturer: Hyundai (Image Quest Q770)

What I have under Sounds and Audio Devices Properties > Hardware tab:

TSST Corp CD-R/RW TS-H292A (DVD CD-ROM drives)
Audio Codecs (sound, video and game controllers)
Legacy Audio Drivers (sound, video and game controllers)
Media Control Devices (sound, video and game controllers)
Legacy video Capture Devices (sound, video and game controllers)
Video Codecs (sound, video and game controllers)

All these say the device is working properly after Devce Status.

When I play something in Winamp, Error 88780078.
When I play something in Realtek, Error 00040258.

Please help. Thanks.

Hi i'm new to this forum but i've been having this sound problem for quite a while now. It happened sometime when i upgraded to SP2. i've read through this thread but couldn't seem to find a solution to my problem. Put simply, Windows can't detect my sound card... I think it's embedded to the system board, and i've read stuff about sp2 having issues with embedded devices. Error is 'Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)' but i've installed the updated driver multiple times.

Anyway, here's my system specs:
Operating System: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
System Model: VIA Technologies, Inc. KT600-8237
Enclosure Type: Desktop
Processor a:
1.85 gigahertz AMD Sempron
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache
Main Circuit Board b:
Board: KT600-8237
Bus Clock: 166 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 09/16/2004

Drives:

8.72 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space
GIGABYTE GO-R5232C [CD-ROM drive]
LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1673S [CD-ROM drive]
3.5" format removeable media [Floppy drive]
HDS722580VLAT20 [Hard drive] (61.49 GB) -- drive 0, s/n VN32BEC2S1974M, rev V32OA60A, SMART Status: Healthy

Memory Modules c,d:
512 Megabytes Installed Memory
Slot 'A0' has 512 MB
Slot 'A1' is Empty

Local Drive Volumes:
c: (NTFS on drive 0) 61.48 GB 8.72 GB free

I'd deeply appreciate any help i can get... I'm hoping for a miracle

any help would be greatful thx

This is the link to your Dell drivers http://support.euro.dell.com/support...os=WW1&osl=EN#

under audio 2 listed, it will depend on if you have onboard or a sound card installed

Onboard - radio jacks are situated at the top of tower near mouse and keyboard socket - audio ADI 198x

Sound Card - Radio jacks situated lower down tower in an expansion slot - audio Creative labs Sound blaster

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps

ok im pretty sure he has a sound card, but when i try install the drivers for the sound card it says device not found.....what would be causing this? maybe he is missing chipset drivers? also i noticed that he did have the multimedia audio controller in device manager with a question mark in yellow next to it, but now its not there, could this be the problem?
