Realtek is onboard audio Creative is a sound card, can you check the OS that has sound and see which Audio is enabled, you can't have both on the system, if useing a sound card the onboard sound has to be disabled

Two different chipsets for this model one for Pentium 760-740 and one for Celeron 360j, need to check which one.
On your desktop pc get Belarc Advisor http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html download and save - copy to floopy and install on your laptop. Run on laptop and copy the results to floppy and install on desktop then copy and paste in thread. May be able to find the Intel mothrboard and get drivers.

Hi,
I came to this site a long time ago to fix this multimedia audio controller problem (It's been a few months at least). But now it seems that the problem is reocurring after I had to shutdown the computer when it froze up from a combination of virus scan and another program that totally bogged it down. When I turned the computer back on a message came up saying something like my "input was out of range." The message wouldn't go away and I couldn't get to my desktop so I turned the computer off again. When I turned it back on, I found that I could get to the desktop this time but there was no sound. I checked my device manager and found that the multimedia audio controller was out of whack again. The problem is, is that I have already installed the Realtek Media Player (RtlRack) and for some reason the computer wasn't recognizing it. I tried installing it again, then uninstalling again and then installing it again but it doesn't seem to work. I would really like to know why this is happening and why it didn't happen before, but more importantly I would simply like to know how to get sound back on to my computer. I have a Windows XP, and I know anybody trying to figure this out is going to need more information so if you can just tell me what, I will be happy to provide it. Keep in mind though that I've already installed Realtek and it doesn't work now but did before, so I'm kind of baffled.

Need more information, what make and model if you don't know get Belarc Advisor ( free) and post results http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
The Realtek driver if onboard sound is the AC'97 not the media player, the audio for that is here http://w3serv.realtek.com.tw/downloa...&Software=True

Found the chipset for the model go here to Intel http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21
it's No:2 INF Update Utility install and RESTART your comp.
this will tell windows which inf files it needs.
Set a System Restore before installing just in case

hi there...
i downloaded that link....installed it in my laptop...but during installation it was looking for this file usbehci.sys.....i found it and downloaded it and installed it in my laptop.....then it worked.....i restart.....but nothing happened...i still have those devices with question marks....plus a new one that has a esclamation mark......Intel(R) 82801FB/FBM USB2 Enchanced Host Controller - 265C....what does this mean?
is it because...i download from my desktop pc and save to usb flash then install it in my laptop (cos my laptop doesnt have internet)??

Hi again,
Here is my computer summary, hope you can figure out what the problem is. I was going to try the execution file but I worry about the safety of the program. If you need more information please tell me and if the execution file is the only way, I'll try it. I was also wondering if I bought a new sound card (I think mine is really old) would that solve my problem? Thanks!

Take a look at this, on how to install usbehci.sys, it is a piece of hardware and you need to use the Add Hardware facility. http://www.usb-drivers.com/drivers/123/123003.htm
