Multimedia Audio Controller Problems

Help, dreaded multimedia audio controller
hello, could someone please help me. I havent had sound for weeks. (system sounds and regular sounds)Everything checks out on my computer except the multimedia audio controller. it has a yellow exclamation point beside the icon. it says i dont have an updated driver, the only problem is i dont know how to get them. i tried the resource cd that should contain all my drivers but it says that driver was not found.

2 drivers shown one an onboard that's the ADI and another for Soundblaster which is a sound card,I'd try the ADI udio driver first
Set a System Restore Point before installing any drivers just in case

first thing i did was set a system restore.when i got the driver i tried to update it from where it says the multimedia audio controller with a (!) located in the device manager, and it wouldnt let me do it. so i installed it from where i saved it. the weird thing is after installing it, the multimedia audio controiller wasnt there anymore, it used to be under "other devices" in the device manager, now i cant find it and i still dont have any sound???

ok please disregard that last post, that was for the adi driver when i have the soundblaster card. it lets me download and unzip the soundblaster driver but when i go to install it it says "setup did not detect the requred components, setup will exit" does that mean my sound card is not installed acoording to belarc i have soundblaster live 24 bit, it doesnt have an x beside it. im sooo confused

Set aSystem Restore Point before installing driver just in case
Go back to Dell link and download and install the Chipset, Intel Software Installation Utility, when installed RESTART your computer, then install the Soundblaster audio again.

get Belarc Advisor http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html ( free ) install, run then copy and paste the results may be able to identify the motherboard or the make and model

It's not giveing the motherboard maker, get Everest http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml
copy and paste My Computer/Summary it may give the moherboard maker, intel do 3 boards 845PE and all have same sound, but would just like to be sure

i found my driver btw ^^ the everest program showed me the soyo website which is my motherboard and they had the audio drivers for my motherboard, thank you so much ^^ your a life saver!!!
