okay, i followed the link and installed the chipset and onboard audio drivers from the biostar site. But i still have the same error... it keeps saying the driver is corrupt. Do you have any more suggestions?

Dear all,
I'm really not too good with computers so I really appreciated anyone of you who can take a new secs to help me out.
I have been experining sound prob with both of my desktop and laptop.
Both are to do with Multimedia AC.
My Laptop has the start-up sound etc but can't actually play any audio files (e.g. MP3s in iTunes, Mediaplayer, Quicktime etc ).
My desktop has clicking sounds but that's about it. Webpages etc don't have any sounds...
I just did the Belarc scan for my desktop but have no idea what info i need to post to locate the right solution. I too am getting that yellow "?" for the Multimedia AC file. So here's all the info (I'm sorry that its really long.. ...). I will post info for my laptop tomorrow (can't get access to internet for some reason).

Have a look at this it's from Annoyances.org, I have Realtek and when useing a programe to identify drivers it listed a C-media audio, which I knew was wrong, seems to be a glitch with this driver

I'm having the no sound problem how can it be resolve? In systems Propertis :-Hardware :- Device Manager they are a few yellow question signs under other device, how can it be resolve?
This computer was custom made & i found out that windows xp pro is not genuine how can i get sp2 & a genuine key? What's most important to me right now though is to hav sound onmy computer i'm only hearing beeping sounds i cant listen to music or hear any audio....I will be more than greatful for ur help....Thanks in Advance.

Alright this is getting really tiresome... so i visited the read the other forum and eventually installed the RealTek '97 driver. But lo and behold... the same error!  I'm beginning to think that this may have something to do with the system files that the audio drivers depend on. Could this be a possibility bookworm? I mean the driver information does include the files ks.sys, ksproxy.ax, and ksuser.dll. Could it be that these files or their registry information has been somehow corrupted by some past virus or the system update itself? |

For this to work you need a Win XP disc, it's a System File Check. Go to Run / type "sfc /scannow" ( without the quotes and note the space after sfc ) the have your Win XP disc available in case sfc needs to replace or repair any files. The programe will run then close, it gives no information
