Would you please confirm your latest reply is intended for me, as reported in an email I received? The quote included in it confuses me.
Thankyou.

this is your audio driver from Dell http://support.dell.com/support/down...3&fileid=67126
if it fails to find the driver use the If No Setup File method to insta

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax C-Media etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a restore point and follow instructions

It also gave problems during installation, hence i disabled the Ac 97 audio from BIOS setup, further installation was error free.
But now whenever i enable audio from BIOS ...
It shows up A BSOD as soon as it detects the new hardware in windows...
Hence i am stuck wit no sound......
PLs any help wld be appreciated

usally the BSOD means wrong audio driver, now been looking at Acorp, under the 845 boards, one board shows the realtek driver and C-Media, these drivers are often confused for one another, the board is the Acorp 4D845AP, try this one, and do set a Restore Point first
