Multimedia Audio Controller Problems

I don't seem to have sound on my computer. n.n; That is, from the speakers anyway, My computer, the actual PC, makes a beeping noise once in a while when I start up. Anyway, recently, I upgraded my OS to WinXP, everything seems fine except I don't have any sound. When I checked the device manager, under Other Devices, Multimedia Audio Controller had a big yellow question mark in front of it.

I tried to uninstall it in safe mode, and then restart it normally, it didn't work. When I got back on, I tried to reinstall it, but the computer couldn't find the software for the controller. u.u; So...help?

Need a little more information, what is the make and model number of you computer, or if custom built what is the motherboards make.
Look again at device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers, expand and look for a listing that just gives sound, if we can identify the sound device we can get an updated driver.

If you can't find this information download Belarc Advisor here http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
and post the findings.

Hope this helps

I just copied and pasted if you don't mind. ^_^;;

Gateway E-4000 4000783
System Serial Number: 0029218625
Chassis Serial Number: 0029218625

And all I see for the Device manager part are Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Driver, Legacy Video Driver, Media Control Devices, Media Control Devices, Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device, and Video Codecs.

The driver is a Realtek ALC655 get it here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True
Choose one of the 3 download sites, they can be slow, just use the fastest one.

Hope this helps
