I have a MESH D410E Notebook computer and also have Windows XP Pro. If you can help at all I'll be Eternally grateful as this problem is driving me completely insane!
(It also says that PCI Modem and Video COntroller (vga compatible) are missing - are these important too i.e. could they be need for playing music
and dvds?!! Sorry, I am useless with computers!!
Thanks

Belarc may have not seemed useful to you, but clues to your motherboard are there if you know where to look, I'll check on your system model, but if it's no help will post back for your Belarc list. It appears as if you have quite a few drivers missing, I'll see what I can find.

Hope this helps

Ok this is how it is, your motherboard does not have a support site, you need to register with the Mesh site, also they do not appear to support driver downloads for notebooks on the site, go here to register http://www.meshcomputers.com/updated/support.htm click on downloads and then register.
if after you register you can send me a personal message ( only if you wish to ) with your log on details and I can access the site and get the information you need. If you don't wish to do this it's ok. If you need any further help just post back or send Personal message via the board, I also accept emails.

Hope this helps

Create a System Restore Point just in case before installing drivers

Take a look at this to inentify your sound card, there are 3 for your particular model http://support.dell.com/support/topi...en&s=dhs#en#us

You first need to update your Intel Chipset driver before any others drivers. Get the driver here http://support.dell.com/support/down...file id=48256
follow install instructions

When you have identified the right driver go here to download http://support.euro.dell.com/support...&os=WW1&osl=EN
Click Audio + to open and follow instructions to install.

Hope this helps

-Ethernet Controller
-Multimedia Audio Controller
-PCI Modem
-Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

These issues occured after reinstalling Windows XP Pro. This laptop is fairly new. When I try to update drivers, using right click, etc.,it does not successfully locate software/drivers.

Create a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Here is a list of all the drivers for your machine from Dell
http://support.euro.dell.com/support...&os=WW1&osl=EN

The first driver you need to install is the Chipset driver, this enables your Devices to be recognised in Device manager. it is a zip file, all instructions are shown on how to install.Do Not At This Point Install Any Other Drivers check Device Manager again after installing the chipset driver to see if you need any other drivers.Audio and Video drivers are shown but If you are not sure which drivers are for your modem and ethernet download the Belarc Advisor ( free ) it will tell what is installed on your comp.

Hope this helps

Create a System Restore Point before installation just in case

Go here, all required drivers for your model are listed, along with instructions for installation.http://support.euro.dell.com/support...&os=WW1&osl=EN

1. Go to Chipset- download and install ( this is needed in order to recognise any drivers installed on your system )
2. Go to Audio- download and install.

Hope this helps

Hi, thanks for the reply Barbara, I appreciate it. I tried that but still no sound...Any more ideas? I ran the Dell Diagnostic CD and the speakers work when tested. Also, in the Device Manager, under "Sound, Video..." only this appears:

Crystal WDM Audio Codec

Legacy Video Capture Devices

Video Codec

I remember there were more such as the Multimedia Audio Controller and other Video ones.

Also, under System Devices, the Plug and Play is missing...I was told to delete it, but it never reinstalled.

Please help!!!!!

try to get details of your current system configuration and original system configuration you need a service tag it tells how to find it. let me know what it says, you can PM if you wish.

Is this Belarc Advisor's information or Dell's?
